Peak Play Days and Play Time Sessions

When is a peak play day?

At Grass Hoppers, a peak play day is every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday as well as on any weekday during school holidays and, on these peak play days, we offer 3 playtime sessions.

Peak day playtime sessions last two and a quarter hours, except on Sundays when we offer a shorter breakfast play from 9.45am to 11am and two playtime sessions for two hours each. This is because the garden centre is restricted by Sunday trading laws and so cannot open for longer on a Sunday. The price reflects the reduced length of our Sunday playtime sessions.

In peak day playtime sessions, we are unable to start playtime sessions early or end them any later than stated as we close Grass Hoppers completely for 30 minutes in between each playtime to clean and tidy our play area ready for children (and grown-ups) in the following playtime session to enjoy.

If you are planning to eat with us, it’s helpful to know that Woody’s Kitchen takes last food orders 45 minutes before the end of each peak day playtime session.

When is an off-peak play day?

At Grass Hoppers, every term time weekday is an off peak play day with just one playtime session from 9.15am to 5pm meaning no specific start or end time and no restriction on the length of time you stay to play.

When is a holiday play?

A holiday play applies to weekdays in the school holidays. Given our location, it’s good to know we include the school holidays and term times of the four local boroughs in our area, namely Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale.

When the kids are having fun, we know you may want to stay and play for longer so you can extend any midday playtime session on any peak day except Sundays!

It’s simple too, pay just £3 at any point during the midday playtime session and you can stay and play for the rest of the day! Each child will receive a wristband and you can all remain in Grass Hoppers at the end of the midday playtime session.

Places will be limited and cannot be booked in advance.

Terms: The option to extend your playtime is valid Monday to Saturday at the 12pm session only and permits guests to stay and play at the 2.45pm session for an additional £3, paid on the day. Excludes Sunday. Extended play cannot be booked in advance. Places are subject to availability.

Facilities

Grass Hoppers is all about kids enjoying a fantastic playtime and that often means getting grubby in the process so we know it’s important to have all the amenities and facilities in place. Whether its sandy toes, sticky fingers or mucky chops – it’s now really easy to get squeaky clean in our supersized changing room with plenty of sinks and changing cubicles!

You’ll also find plenty of toilets located inside, all in addition to the toilets located in the outdoor playground. For feeding mums, we’ve introduced a mother and baby feeding zone and there’s a pram store – both included in Grass Hoppers thanks to your helpful feedback!

There are wide aisles for easy access with prams to all areas throughout the garden centre and in Grass Hoppers, as well as child friendly parking bays.

A big thank you to all those who share this top tip – many of our visitors recommend bringing a change of clothes and maybe a small towel after outdoor play, especially in the sand pit or water play.

Grass Hoppers Grub

From yummy pizzas and paninis to tasty breakfasts and award winning ice cream, Woody’s Kitchen is Grass Hoppers’ family friendly restaurant with a delicious menu of favourites for kids and grown ups!

Don’t forget to pick up your FreeBee Card when you visit! Simply collect a stamp with every hot drink or ice cream you buy and your 9th is a freebee!

You are welcome to eat your picnic in our designated picnic area located in our outdoor playground. For health and safety, we don’t allow glass bottles and barbeques are not permitted. Alcohol is strictly forbidden in Grass Hoppers.
